A Couple Days of Returns - Catching Up

I forgot to post my returns from Saturday, so I'll combine those with today's.

On Saturday, Charlie James signed a couple of team cards, including the 1961 and 1965 Cardinals.

Bill Sharp signed his 1975 and 1976 Topps.  This was my first time writing to Mr. Sharp.

And (drum roll please) Orlando Cepeda signed the head of a bobblehead I sent him very nicely using the silver sharpie I included.  This turned out even better than I hoped (or feared).  The picture is a bit blurry, but the signature on the bobblehead is very clear and sharp.  I have not attached the head back to the body, but when I do, I'll take some pictures.

Today, I received three returns.

Ken Aspromonte signed his 1958 and 1961 Topps, as well as the 1961 Cleveland Indians team card.  He returned, but did not sign, the 1958 Red Sox team card.  I'm not sure if that was an oversight, or if he doesn't sign Red Sox cards perhaps?

Marc Hill signed his 1977 and 1980 Topps and the 1976 and 1978 Giants team cards.

And finally, Jerry Walker signed his 1961 and 1962 Topps cards, as well as the 1958 and 1961 Orioles and 1963 Athletics team cards.

Almost all the requests I send out now include at least one team card, so I'll be posting a lot of those for a while.

Ted Bowsfield TTM Return

Today I received a great return from Ted Bowsfield.  He signed the four cards I sent him and also answered a question in my letter, wrote me a short note wishing me good luck with my collection, and signed it.  As part of answering my question, which was about the pitch clock they are implementing in the majors next year, he noted that he pitched a complete game in 1961 that only took an hour and 33 minutes!

The cards he signed include his 1959 and 1960 Topps, as well as the 1963 Angels team card, and the 1965 Athletics team card.  The 63 team card was already signed by Don Lee, and Mr. Bowsfield is the first to sign the 65 A's card.

Mr. Bowsfield had signed his 1959 and 1960 Topps cards for me in the past but used black ink.  These cards are a nice upgrade signed in blue ink, with his jersey number added as well. Here are the cards signed in black ink.  They are still nice cards and signatures, but I prefer the blue ink.

Steve Busby TTM Return

Steve Busby was kind enough to sign a few cards for me.

He signed his 1973 Topps rookie card.  I'll send it off to George Medich next, but unfortunately, Dick Colpaert is deceased.

He also signed the 1975 Topps '74 highlights card, noting the pitchers that threw no-hitters in 1974.  It was previously signed by Dick Bosman, so now I just have to decide if I want to spend the $75 to have Nolan Ryan finish the card.

He also signed two Royal team cards from 1976 and 1979.

I've been sending out a small but steady stream of requests and I have a few private signings requests out too, so the returns should be pretty steady as well.

Jim Beattie and Ray Semproch Returns

I received two nice returns today, one vintage, and one only kinda-vintage, probably depending on your age :-)

The kinda-vintage return was from Jim Beattie, who signed his 1983 Mariner's Leaders card as well as his 1987 Topps.

The vintage-vintage return was from Ray Semproch, who signed his 1958, 1959 and 1960 Topps as well as the 1961 Topps Tigers team card.

Three TTM Returns Including Nine Team Cards!

According to my Informed Delivery email, I should have had one more ttm return today, but I'm happy with the three I received.

Claude Osteen signed his 1958, 1961 and 1965 team cards as well as his 1973 Topps.

Mel Roach signed his 1962 Topps, as well as his 1958, 1961 and 1963 team cards.

And former-Twin Al Worthington signed his 1958 Topps as well as his 1958, 1961 and 1965 team cards.

I've been waiting on these returns before sending out other requests as I want to get more players to sign these team cards.  The logistics and organization of trying to get these signed without having to send to players too frequently, is very tricky and time consuming.

Ken MacKenzie, Jim Small and Bobby Richardson

Yesterday I received a return from Jim Small, who signed his 1956 and 1957 Topps, as well as the 1958 Topps Tigers team card, already signed by Charlie Maxwell.

Today I received two returns. First, Ken MacKenzie signed his 1962 Topps for me.  The signature is extremely small and light, quite different from signatures I've received from him in the past.  He may be having trouble signing these days.

Here's a 1963 Topps he signed for me in early 2017.

I also received a return from Bobby Richardson, who is a great ttm signer.  He signed the 1963 Topps Bomber's Best card as well as the 1963 Topps Yankees team card.  On the Bomber's Best card, he added the jersey numbers to the other two players: Mickey Mantle and Tom Tresh.  But it appears he put #9 on Mantle.  That was Roger Marios' number.  Maybe Mr. Richardson thought that picture was of Maris.

He also included his usual religious pamphlet that stars Mickey Mantle.  He wrote a brief note on it, stating that he'd use the $10 I sent to buy more of those pamphlets.
