Denny McLain and Jim Palmer Returns

I had sent a magazine in to a Denny McLain back in March, but due to the pandemic, the signing just got completed.  He had been signing through the mail in the meanwhile. so I might have been better off sending it on my own.  But who knew?

I had him sign a Sports Illustrated from 1968 when he won 31 games.  I had plans of having Al Kaline sign it too, but unfortunately he passed away in April.

I also received a return from Jim Palmer, who signed a couple 1971 Topps for my set.

I received three returns today from requests I sent out within the last 10 days.

Jose Morales signed his 1976, 1978 and 1979 Topps.

Joe Nolan signed his 1978, 1979, 1980 and 1985 Topps.

And finally Doug Rau signed his 1976, 1978, 1979 and 1980 Topps.

Bill Castro and Juan Marichal Returns

I was happy to receive my card back from Juan Marichal after seeing a post on SCN that perhaps I had used the wrong address.

He signed my 1971 Topps for his $10 fee in a little over two weeks.

I sent out a couple 1971 Topps that require fees as I don't want to miss out on the chance to get some of these players while they're still signing ttm.  I think I have a couple out to Jim Palmer as well.

I also received a return from Bill Castro, who signed his 1976, 1978, 1979 and 1980 Topps in just a week.

Bill Fahey TTM Return

Today I received a return from Bill Fahey after about a month and a half.

He signed his 1976, 1978, 1980 and 1989 Topps.

The other player pictured on the 1980 Topps Giants Leaders card is Bob Melvin.  He's a spotty signer, and I don't see a return from him in almost a year on SCN, so I'll hold on to this one until I see a better opportunity to have him sign it.

Don Elston and Joe Lahoud

Today I received one Ebay purchase and one return from a private signing.

I bought a 1958 Topps signed by Don Elston and authenticated by SGC.  It's been over two years since I added a card to my 1958 set that I didn't already have.  I upgraded a few, but this is one I didn't previously have.

I also received a 1971 and 1972 Topps signed by Joe Lahoud from a private signing.  Mr. Lahoud doesn't sign through the mail.

George Foster Return From Private Signing

I've added a couple more signed 1978 Topps to my set thanks to a private signing with George Foster.

I was able to get Mr. Foster to sign his 1978 card as well as the HR leaders card.  I'll send that one off to Jim Rice next.

I wrote six more letters today before running out of stamps.  I'll try to get a few more done this week.

Rudy Meoli and Stan Williams Returns

 I received two returns today.

Rudy Meoli signed his 1976 and 1978 Topps which I sent him towards the end of June.

And Former-Twin Stan Williams signed his 1969 and 1971 Topps which I sent about two weeks ago.

Jim Nettles Return

 I received one return today.

Jim Nettles signed his 1971, 1972 and 1975 Topps in 12 days.

The 1971 and 1975 got a little smeared.  I don't see any successes from Pete Hamm on SCN, so I won't bother sending this one to him.

Josh Fogg and Marcel Lachemann

I received two requests today, one vintage and one not so vintage, although I guess cards from the 2003 are older than I care to admit.

Marcel Lachemann signed his 1971 Topps as well as the 1987 Topps Angels Leaders card with Mike Witt and Bob Boone.  Boone is a pretty good signer, but Witt is not, so I doubt I'll get all three on this card.

Josh Fogg signed a few Topps Heritage cards for me in just over a week, including those from 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2008.  I had previously sent his 2003 card to him which he signed and returned during the season back in July of 2003, back when I just started this hobby.

A Couple 1971 Topps Purchases

Today I received a couple purchases from Cardboard Promotions via SCN to add to my 1971 Topps collection.

They had signings with both Rico Petrocelli and Wilbur Wood last month and had some extras, including some 1971 Topps of each.

Frank Thomas (The Original One) Return

Today I received a return from Frank Thomas, who played for the Pirates in the 1950's.  He differentiates himself from the Hall of Fame-inducted Frank THomas by referring to himself as "The Original One."

Mr. Thomas signed his 1956 Topps and included a signed stat card for a $5 charitable donation.

Ed Acosta and Art Shamsky (After Almost 5 Years!)

When I saw my Informed Delivery email this morning, I was surprised to see a return with a pretty old Forever Stamp on it.   I knew I was getting back an old request, but I didn't know if it would be signed or not.

It turns out it was Art Shamsky, who I sent a 1969 Mets postcard and 1972 Topps to back in September of 2015.  He signed the postcard, but not the 1972 Topps.

I looked back in SCN and it was sent in a period where he was signing regularly, which he hasn't been since 2017.  So, I'm not sure if he's getting back to signing some old requests, or if he signed this back in 2015 and somehow it was just delivered to me now.

Either way, I'm happy to get it back.

I also received a return from Ed Acosta, who signed his 1971 and 1972 Topps in a very quick 7 days.

Boots Day

One more return today.  Boots Day signed his 1971, 1972 and 1973 Topps for me.

I had previously purchased his 1972 Topps signed but decided I'd rather have one signed ttm.  I expect a trickle of returns to continue for a few days but hopefully it will pick up towards the end of next week.
