Dick Hughes Return

Just one successful return today.

Dick Hughes signed his 1968 and 1969 Topps.

I also had an RTS from Cloyd Boyer, who has apparently moved and the forwarding time has expired.  I sent it again to the address they provided.

Ike DeLock and Dennis Leonard Returns

Two returns today.

Ike DeLock signed his 1955 Bowman and 1957 Topps in just seven days.

Dennis Leonard signed his 1978 Topps card as well as the 1978 Victory Leaders card already signed by Dave Goltz.  Now I am sending it off to Jim Palmer along with a 1971 ERA Leaders card.

Harmon Killebrew and Dennis Eckersley Purchases

I won a couple of Tom Orr's (Atommic Sports) Ebay auctions Sunday and received them today.

I had bid on quite a few, hoping to get some bargains and ended up with these two.

I received a Harmon Killebrew Perez Steele postcard for less than $20.  I'm happy to pay less than $20 for just about any Killebrew autograph.

I don't collect the Perez Steele postcards, but I like this one.

I also received a signed Dennis Eckersley 2016 Allen & Ginter for less than $10.  Another bargain, I thought.

Mitch Garver

Today I was surprised to get a return from Mitch Garver.

I had sent this back in early August, and once the season ended, I thought I might not get it back.  I had sent it to Target Field, but it was postmarked from New Mexico, where he lives.  I appreciate that he took the time to take his fan mail home with him and respond to it.

I haven't sent too many requests to current players because the return rate is so low.  I think Garver is the only player I sent to this year.

Garver hit 31 home runs this year, despite playing in 93 games and having 311 at bats.  He didn't do great in the post season, but he only had 12 at bats.

Ty Cline Return

One more return today.  I'm enjoying the frequent returns lately. It's been a long time since I had a steady stream coming back.

Ty Cline signed his 1966, 1970 and 1971 Topps for me.  I had also enclosed a 1968 Topps that didn't make its way back.

It's interesting that his signature matches the facsimile signature on the 71 Topps.  I haven't seen too many that match that closely.

Goltz and Richardson

I received two nice returns today.

Former-Twin Dave Goltz signed a few cards for me, including his 1973, 1974 and 1979 Topps.  He also signed the 1978 Topps Victory Leaders card which I plan to try to complete.  It's off to Dennis Leonard next.

I started to get worried about Bobby Richardson as it took a while to get this one back (about 2.5 months).  But he must be doing okay as I received it back today signed nicely.  He signed his 1961 Topps World Series and 1962 Topps cards for me.  I really like the World Series card and appreciate the inscription he added.

Face, Marshall and Wieand Returns

I received three returns over the weekend.

Roy (Elroy) Face signed his 1959, 1968 and 1969 Topps.  Mr. Face is a very generous signer and has signed for me a few times over the years, including a baseball with the players from the 1960 Pirates team.

Jim Marshall signed three cards for me as well, including his 1959, 1960 and 1962 Topps.

Finally, Ted Wieand signed his 1960 Topps for me.

I've done a decent job of sending out a couple requests each week to keep the returns coming back fairly consistently.  I have a stack of cards to keep me going for a while as well, so heopfully I cna keep this up for the rest of the year.

Wayne Causey Return

Another return today!  Wayne Causey signed his 1962, 1966 and 1969 Topps for me.  I had included an extra 1966 Topps for him to keep, but he signed and returned that one too.

Dusty Baker

A couple weeks ago I sent a few cards to Dusty Baker using the address on SCN, which was showing a great success rate.  I received my cards back unsigned in my sase.  I continued to see successful returns posted on SCN, so I sent my cards again and today I received them back signed nicely in blue sharpie.

Dick Simpson Return

I was out of town this weekend and came home to one return in my mailbox.

Dick Simpson signed his 1967, 1968 and 1969 Topps in thin black marker for me in about two months.

I also received a RTS from Jim Marshall.  I'll have to find out what his new address is.

Tim McCarver and Doug Rader Returns

I don't remember the last 1965 Topps I added to my collection, but today I received a return from Tim McCarver, who signed his 1965 Topps for a $10 fee.

I also received a return from Doug Rader, who signed his 1968, 1971, 1973 and 1978 Topps for me.

I really like the looks of the 1971 Topps when they get signed in blue sharpie.  They really shouldn't be great for autographs because they usually have pretty busy backgrounds and the facsimile signature gets in the way.  But, I like them anyway.  My son has Rod Carew's autograph on his 1971 Topps, and I think it looks great.
