Mitch Garver, Jim Shellenback and an Ebay Purchase - Mickey Stanley

I had two returns waiting in the mailbox today, as well as an Ebay purchase.

I didn't expect Mitch Garver to send this card back until about this time next year, as this is the routine I have gotten into with him over the last two years.  He must have snuck in signing this right before he took off for spring training.

I have sent 3 or 4 other 2020 Topps Heritage cards to current and former Twins players to their spring training addresses.  I have low expectations for getting them back.

I also received a return from Jim Shellenback, who signed his 1969, 1970 and a couple 1971 Topps.  I had enclosed the extra card for him to keep, but he signed and returned it.

Finally, I received a signed 1971 Topps Mickey Stanley card that I bought on Ebay.  Mr. Stanley is a good signer ttm, but I was came across this card cheaper than unsigned cards when I was trying to find one on Ebay.

I also received a few Joe Pepitone cards that I bought on Ebay that I will be sending in to a private signing next month, including his 1963, 1971 and a couple 1972 Topps.  I'll probably also include his 2000 Fleer Greats of the Game card as well.

Terry Harmon, Fred Norman and John O'Donoghue

The pace of returns is picking up.  I received three today.

Terry Harmon signed his 1971, 1972 and 1973 Topps.  The 72 doesn't count towards my goal for the year since it's a duplicate.

John O'Donoghue signed his 1964 and 1971 Topps.  George Williams has passed away so this card is complete for me.

Finally, Fred Norman signed his 1972 Topps for his $10 fee.  I'm down to having to pay to get most of the rest of the card I need for the 1972 set.

Rob Andrews Return

Just one return today, and it's another one that showed up in my Informed Delivery email two days ago but didn't show up until today.  This only happens to my sases, never to my other mail.  I'm not sure why that is.

Anyway, Mr. Andrews was kind enough to sign his 1976, 1978, 1979 and 1980 Topps for me.

I've been sending out quite a few requests, so I expect the returns to pick up shortly.

Bob Spence - 1971 Topps

I added another 1971 Topps to my set thank to Bob Spence, who signed his card and also included a signed index card with my return.  I'm nearly half-way to my goal for 25 signed 1971 Topps for the year as this makes 12 so far.

Charley (Charlie) (Tim) Thompson - 1957 Topps

I received a return today from a player that has caused me some confusion.

Charley Thompson signed his 1957 Topps for me in just nine days.

I previously had Mr. Thompson sign his 1958 Topps and his 1954 Topps.  It wasn't until I went to send out this 1957 Topps that I realized these were all the same person!

His 1954 Topps lists him as Charlie Thompson.  This isn't too different than "Charley" and if it weren't for the 1958 Topps, I wouldn't have been so confused.  But, his 1958 Topps lists him as "Tim Thompson."  I thought my 1954 and 1958 Topps were from different players and the same confusion exists on SCN where there are two listings for him: one as "Tim" and one as "Charlie".

Anyway, here are the 1954 and 1958 cards Mr. Thompson has previously signed for me.

Eddie Robinson - 1955 Bowman

I received a nice vintage card back today from 100-year-old Eddie Robinson, who signed his 1955 Bowman for his $10 fee.  His signature looks great for being 100!

Darrel Chaney

I received a nice return from Darrel Chaney today, who signed his 1971 Topps as well as the 1971 Topps World Series Game #4 card.

He also enclosed a signed religious card.

I sent out 10 requests today, mostly included mid-to-late 70's cards to make some progress on my 1978 set.

Richie Zisk Return

This 1972 Topps card has been in process for over 10 years.  Fred Cambria signed this card for me back in 2010.  At the time, Richie Zisk did not sign through the mail.  I started to notice some returns from Mr. Zisk in 2020 along with $5 per card, so I finally got around to sending both this 1972 Topps as well as his 1978 Topps.

Bert Blyleven and Ron Bryant

Today I received a return from Hall of Famer and former-Twin Bert Blyleven, who signed his 1971 Topps rookie card for his $20 fee.

I'll miss Bert on the Twins TV games!

I also received a return from Ron Bryant, who signed his 1971 Topps and 1972 Topps In Action cards.

Tommy Helms and Charlie Manuel

The returns have been pretty steady for a short while.  I received two more today:

Tommy Helms signed his 1965 Topps, 1966 Topps (already signed by Simpson), 1976 Topps and 1978 Topps.

And former-Twin and major league manager Charlie Manuel signed his 1971 Topps and 2007 Topps Heritage.

Junior Moore, Larry Stahl and John Stearns

 I received three returns today.

Junior Moore signed his 1978, 1979 and 1980 Topps.  Unfortunately, the 1978 got badly smeared and the 1979 got a little smeared.

Larry Stahl signed his 1971 Topps.  This card is in rough shape, but it's a high number card and I didn't want to spend too much on it.

John Stearns signed his 1976, 1978, 1979 and 1980 Topps for me.

Toby Harrah Return

I received one more return today. Toby Harrah signed his 1972, 1973, 1976 and 1978 Topps.  I'm not counting the 1972 towards my goal for the year since I already have one that I purchased several years ago.

Royle Stillman

I've got several requests out so I'm hoping to get some slow but steady returns over the next couple of weeks.

Today I received a return from Royle Stillman, who singed his 1976 Topps already signed by Edd Ott, as well as his 1978 Topps.  I sent the 76 to Ott over five years ago.  I'm not sure why I didn't continue with it until now.  The other two are good signers, although White charges a fee.  I'll send to Merchant next.
