Rosen, Cook and Kessinger

I found three returns waiting for me in the mailbox today.

Al Rosen was kind enough to sign a 1953 Topps for me in about 9 days.

Cliff Cook signed his 1961 Topps.  I enclosed $5 with my request.

Don Kessinger signed a 1970 and 1972 Topps for me.  This makes number 355 for my 1972 set.

I sent off a few cards to some Chris Potter signings.  A couple 1965 Topps and some 1972 Topps.  I won't get those back until late next month though.

Koegel, Rader, Richardson and Terwilliger

My returns are coming back now.  Today I received four returns as well as a purchase from a fellow Sportscollectors.net member.

Doug Rader, a tough ttm signature, signed his 1972 Topps for me.  I recently purchased this signed card from Chris Potter via Ebay, but when I saw some ttm requests being received by other SCN members, I decided to give it a try myself.

Pete Koegel signed his 1972 Topps for me.  Mike Anderson is a tough autograph so I won't risk sending this through the mail to him.  Twitchell has passed away.

Bobby Richardson signed his 1961 Topps for me.  I sent this card last November.

Wayne Terwilliger signed his 1956 Topps and also enclosed a signed St. Paul Saints card for me.  I enclosed $5 with my request.

Finally, I purchased a 2005 Washington Nationals inaugural year ball signed by Frank Robinson from a member on SCN.  It is Steiner authenticated.  I already have two baseballs signed by Robinson, but I got it for a good price so I couldn't resist.  I should probably resist more often though.

1972 Topps Purchases

Still no ttm returns, although I have sent out another 10 or so requests this week.  I should start getting a few back very soon.

While preparing for a Chris Potter Sports signing, I was looking for some 1972 Topps on Ebay.  However, I came across signed copies of some 1972 Topps for sale, also from Chris Potter.  So, I was able to but a few for cheaper than it would have cost me to buy unsigned cards and send them in to his signings.  I did also buy some unsigned cards to send in as well.

I ended up buying 9 signed cards including Bill Singer, Paul Blair, Doug Rader, Rick Auerbach, Darrel Chaney, Sonny Siebert, Earl Williams, Gene Alley and George Culver.

 

 

 

 

Some Long Returns - Capps, Hooton and Fitzmorris

I came home today to find three returns that have been out for quite a while. I expected to get a couple back as I've sent out a handful over the last week or so, but I wasn't expecting these.

Matt Capps signed a 2008 and 2011 Topps Heritage for me.  I sent to him last September via the Twins.  The return envelop was postmarked from Georgia.

Burt Hooton signed a 1972 and 1978 Topps that I sent to him last April.

Finally, Al Fitzmorris signed a 1972 and 1978 Topps that I sent him in January of 2011.

I also received a few purchases that I'll post about tomorrow.

TTM Returns - Paul Doyle and George Stone

Over the last couple of days, I received a couple 1972 Topps that I sent out a while ago.

Paul Doyle signed his 1972 Topps that I sent out just after the first of the year.

 George Stone signed his card that I sent last November.

Bobby Knoop - 1972 Topps

One return today from Bobby Knoop who signed his 1972 Topps for me.

I received one shipment of Joel Zumaya cards so at least we each have one card to get signed by him at TwinsFest.  Over the weekend I started organizing our binders of cards and pictures based on the stations my sons want to go to.  We're mostly getting cards and a few pictures signed this year.  There aren't too many players the boys want to sign baseballs, although my older son wants Josh Willingham on one, and I think I'll have Scott Erickson sign a Metrodome ball.

I do have a lot of bobbleheads to get signed though.  On Friday night, my wife is going with my older son and based on the stations he wants to go to, she has four bobbleheads to tote around with her, as well as a bat.

Dave Marshall Return

One return today.  My number of outstanding requests is down to about 4 or 5 that I can reasonably expect to get back.  I probably won't send any more cards out until after TwinsFest.

Dave Marshall signed his 1971, 1972 and 1973 Topps nicely in blue sharpie.  He also enclosed his business card I believe in response to my question about his career after his playing days.

 

Speaking of TwinsFest, I see the schedule has changed slightly.  Brad Radke is replacing Jeff Reardon.  I have  a bobblehead for Radke, so I'll try to get that signed. In all, I hope to get nine different bobbleheads signed over the three days.

Rich Hebner TTM Return

Just one return today, and it was a little damaged.  My return envelope was wrinkled and had some water damage.  Of course, the one card I really wanted signed, the 1972 Topps, suffered the most damage.  It's not a total loss though.


In addition to the 1972 Topps, Mr. Hebner signed a 1973, 1976 and 1978 Topps.

Clay Carroll and Joe Astroth Returns

I got a nice vintage card back in the mail today.  Joe Astroth signed his 1953 Topps for me that I sent in early December.

I also added two more cards to my 1972 Topps set.  Clay Carroll signed and personalized both his cards from the set.

15 Signed Cards in the Mail Today

Okay, it was only five returns, but I had several requests in each for a total of 15 signed cards today.

Tom Grieve signed his 1971, 1972, 1974 and 1978 Topps.

 

Fred Kendall signed a 1972, 1973 and 1978 Topps.

 

Rich Morales signed his 1971, 1972 and 1973 Topps.

 

Jim Lyttle signed a 1971, 1972 and 1974 Topps.

 

Finally, John Kennedy signed his 1969 and 1972 Topps.

I hope to send out a few requests over the weekend as well.  If I can get 10 requests out, I'll have a good start to my goals of 150 requests for 2012.  I'll also spend some time this weekend trying to get organized for TwinsFest.
