A Few Days of Returns

I received a few returns since Friday, including some ttm returns, a ttm failure, a private signing return, and a couple purchases.

First, I received a note from Bob Kline's wife that he passed away October 26th.  I hate to receive these notes.  I'm sure she had more to worry about than sending me back his 1955 Topps card, but it is much appreciated.

My ttm returns:

Bob Allietta - 1976 Topps and 1976 Topps Angels team card.

Harold Baines - 1983 Topps rookie card with $20.

Steve Garvey - 1973 and 1983 Topps.  The 83 smeared a little.

Hobie Landrith - 1955 Bowman with $5.

Dick Nen - 1964, 1965, 1966, 1967 Topps.

Bill Mazeroski - 1957 Topps with $10.

I received a 2009 and 2010 Topps Heritage signed by Orlando Cabrera from a mail-in signing.

Finally, I received two Boog Powell cards, a 1965 Topps and a 1970 Topps All Star card from two different purchases: one from SCN, and the other from Ebay.

Another Day with Four Returns

The returns have been pretty consistent, but I haven't sent any out in about a week, so it might slow down soon.

Today I got back a 1955 Topps doubleheader card signed by Billy Gardner.  I wish I had worked on this set 15 years ago when many of these players were still around.  There aren't too many players on these cards still living that also sign.

Charlie Maxwell signed his 1955 Bowman for his $5 fee.

Jim Perry signed his 1973 Topps and added his Cy Young Award inscription for his $5 fee, which goes to charity, according to the note he included.

And finally, Chuck Seelbach signed his 1973 Topps and the 1973 Topps Tigers team card in black, nearly invisible ink, which also smeared on his individual card.  If you're planning on sending to him, you might want to send him a new pen!

Four More Returns Today

I received a nice mix of cards today.

First, Dave Goltz signed his 1976 and 1977 Topps, as well as the 1976 and 1978 Topps Twins team cards.

Vern Law signed his 1955 Bowman and added a bunch of inscriptions.  He also write me a nice letter about his career and where the $8 donation goes.

Taylor Roger of the Twins signed the 2020 Topps Heritage I sent to him during spring training in February.  I was surprised to get this one back.

Finally, Joe Zdeb signed his 1978 and 1979 Topps as well as the 78 and 79 Topps Royals team cards.

Six Returns Today

Last week I sent out a bunch of requests to try to fill some holes in my 1976 Topps set.  I bought the complete, unsigned set a few years ago to have some cards to send along as I worked on my 1971, 1972 and 1978 Topps sets.

I've been slowing down on those sets as it gets harder to find signers, especially those that don't charge.  So, I decided to send off some cards from the 1976 set, and also start including some team cards when I have them.

Five of the six successes I received today included a 1976 Topps.

Jim Barr signed his 1976, 1977, 1979 and 1983 Topps.

John D'Acquisto signed his 1976 Topps, the 1976 Topps Giants team card, and his 1977 and 1979 Topps cards.

Dave Duncan signed his 1971, 1972 and 1976 Topps.  I already had him sign the 71 and 72 in a request I sent about 11 years ago, but I had extras so I sent them along.  Mr. Duncan wrote "Send Self-Sealing Envelopes" on the back of my sase.  I have purposely avoided using self-sealing envelopes because I have read from some other members on sportscollectors.net that often, players don't realize there's paper that has to be peeled off before it can be sealed, and they end up receiving their sase unsealed, sometimes with cards missing.

Jim Lonborg signed his 1972, 1976, 1976 Phillies team and 1979 Topps for me.

Jack McKeon signed his 1973 Manager card, and 1975 and 1978 Topps team cards.

Finally, Joe McIntosh signed his 1976 Topps and 1976 Topps Padres team card.

I also sent out about 10 requests late last week that required fees/donations.  I hope those will starting arriving by the end of the week.
