Alex Grammas Return

I returned from the holiday weekend to find one return waiting for me.

Alex Grammas signed his 1954 Topps and 1958 Reds team card.

The year is winding down.  Next weekend I'll update my progress on my goals I set for this year, as well as set news goals for next year.  I received about 35 cards I bought on Ebay to send out, including about ten 1961 Topps and seventeen 1972 Topps.  I'll probably write letters for those next weekend and send them out during the first week of 2012.

I also need to get moving on ordering some more pictures and cards of players that will be at TwinsFest next month.

Bill Skowron and Lloyd Allen

I received a couple of returns today.  First, I was excited to get my 1954 Topps back from Bill "Moose" Skowron.  Moose was a six-time All Star and won five World Series (four with the Yankees, and one with Dodgers).  I included $10 with my request.

I also got back three cards from Lloyd Allen, who signed a 1971, 1972 and 1973 Topps.  I sent these back in January, so I was happy to see them again.

 

Autographed 1954 Topps

I haven't posted for a while because I haven't had anything to post about.  I haven't sent out a request since July 26th!  I've been terribly busy at work, and my sons and I have been trying to squeeze in a summer's worth of golf between the end of their summer baseball season and the beginning of their fall ball season.

Since I don't have anything new to post about, I thought I'd post about some of my favorite signed cards: 1954 Topps.

I've got about 125 of these cards signed.  Some of my favorites include Whitey Ford, Yogi Berra, Duke Snider and Phil Rizzuto.  I got Snider, Ford and Rizzuto through the mail, and sent the Berra in to a paid signing.

 

Other great players from this set include Monte Irvin, Bob Turley, Hank Bauer and Bobby Shantz.

Although we've lost a lot of players form this set over the last few years, there are still a lot of very good through the mail signers so don't wait, start collecting this set!

Severinsen, Thompson and Campbell

Three returns today:

Charlie Thompson signed his 1954 Topps.

Al Severinsen signed a 1972 Topps.

And Dave Campbell signed his 1971, 1972 and 1973 Topps.
