I sent a couple cards to a Johnny Bench signing. I wrote specific instructions on the cards on where to sign them because I was getting tired of getting cards back signed on the darkest part of the card.
Well, it looks like Johnny Bench misunderstood my placement instructions for inscription instructions, and rather than signing on the "infield dirt", he wrote, "Infield Dirt", or maybe it says, "In The Dirt". I hadn't asked for or paid for an inscription.
One collector has suggested Mr. Bench did this on purpose and knew what I was asking for.
Either way, it's kind of funny.
He also signed a 1973 Topps World Series Game 6 card.
I also received a 1962 Topps signed by Warren Spahn that I bought from a longtime member of SCN.
