Don McMahon had an 18-year career from 1957 to 1974 with a career ERA of just 2.96. He passed away in 1987 at just 57 years old. Despite his early passing, his autograph is not too tough to come across. He must have signed a lot during his career.
I recently purchased and received his 1972 Topps signed and authenticated by Beckett. I used credit card points to pay for nearly all of it.
I previously purchased his 1958 Topps.
Today I also received a ttm return from Ron Guidry, who signed his 1982 Topps. Mr. Guidry doesn't charge, but he'll only sign one card per request.
And Ray Crone signed four cards for me in black sharpie, except the team card, which he signed in black ballpoint.
I've had mixed success from Mr. Crone. He's very reliable, but the pen choice and quality vary greatly. One return included this 1957 Topps with a barely visible signature in faded black ink.
But another request was returned with this nice, fine blue signature.
I have some cards of his I'd really like to upgrade to a nice blue sharpie signature. I may wait a couple months and send him a request and include the pen and a few dollars for his trouble.
