Cody Stashak Spring Training Return

It's been a slow week for ttm returns.  I have a lot of requests out, too.  I sent about 10 requests on March 10th, so this would be about the time those would start rolling in.  10-11 days seems to me to be the amount of time for returns when the players are diligent in signing their mail.

I've even sent a few requests to "common" players that don't normally charge, and included a blue sharpie sent in a bubble envelope with PirateShip tracked labels.  I'm hoping to get a few upgrades to my sets from players that have signed in ballpoint or black marker for many years.  It's a bit more of a hassle for the player, so I include at least $10 to try to make it worth their while.

Anyway, today I received a return from former-Twin, Cody Stashak.  I sent him his 2020 Topps Heritage to the Phillies spring training facility.

I sent this card to him at Twin's spring training back in 2020, which he also signed.  I don't think there are any other Heritage or Ginter cards picturing him in a Twins uniform.

There have been a couple postings for upcoming signings that I am anxious for.

First, 1991 World Series winner, Paul Sorrento.  He didn't play a huge role that season, playing in 26 games as well as one ALCS game and three World Series games.  His offense in the 1991 postseason generated three strikeouts and a walk.  But his is one of two remaining bobbleheads I need to get signed from the 1991 Twins World Series set.   This is only the second signing listed on SCN for him, the last one being in 2021.  I can't believe I missed that one, but looking at it now, they weren't accepting bats or helmets, so maybe I inquired, and they weren't taking bulky objects.

The last remaining bobblehead I need from the 1991 set will be Steve Bedrosian.  Mr. Bedrosian apparently has zero interest in signing autographs, so I don't have high hopes of getting that one done.  The set also includes Kirby Puckett, who passed away before the set was released.

Second, Paul Molitor is signing in May.  He is pretty good ttm, although his prices have risen quite a bit.  I think he wants $30 for a non-rookie card now.  I have a set of four Metrodome seats that I bought when they dismantled the Dome about 11 years ago.  Purely by chance, my set of four chairs are numbered 4, 5, 6 and 7.  4 is the number Molitor wore, so I'll have him sign that seatback.  I previously had Oliva sign 6 and Mauer, 7.  That leaves #5, which I am planning on having Cuddyer sign.  He'd be the only non-HOF'er of the four, so that's a little weird.  My other options would be to leave it blank or maybe get a lot of signatures on it.  Basically, a who's who of the Twins and try to get all the other Hall of Famer's on it (Morris, Kaat, Carew, Blyleven).  What do you think?

Regarding the Twins World Series bobblehead sets, I have done pretty well on the 1987 set.  I am missing autographs on three of the bobbleheads.  Again, Puckett died just about a year before the set was released.  Joe Niekro also passed away in 2006.  Don Baylor is the last one I didn't get signed.  He passed away in 2017, so I had about 10 years to try.  He was a pretty good ttm signer.  Looking on SCN, there don't appear to be any private signings in his history.  I looked at other deceased players, such as Musial and Schoendienst, and their signings are still listed.  So, perhaps Baylor just didn't like to do signings, or perhaps, his multiple myeloma diagnosis in 2003 prevented him from attending signings events.  I probably should have tried to remove the head and sent that to him for his signature ttm.  Oh well, missing two signatures on a possible 48 between both the 87 and 91 sets is a pretty good result.  And who knows, maybe Bedrosian will have a change of heart, or have a need for money at some point.  I'm sure many people, like me, would be willing to pay well above market rate for his signature.
