In just nine days. George Mitterwald was kind enough to sign four cards for me. I'm surprised I didn't have his 1970 Topps yet so I'm glad to add it to my collection.
The team cards are both the start of a second version as he has already signed them for me. The 1970 Topps had been signed by Charlie Manuel, but he's the first to sign this version of the 1972 team card.
He's pictured on a 1970 Topps A.L. Playoff game #2 card featuring Boog Powell. I'm hoping I can get this card signed by Powell as well.
Last fall I sent a few cards to The Dugout Zone to be signed by Powell, and he signed a similar card from 1971 highlighting game 1 of the A.L. Playoffs which was already signed by Mitterwald.
I'm getting worried about a request I sent to Al Worthington in late February. he has a 94% success rate on SCN and has signed for me in the past. But he's been a little spotty this year. Beginning in early February, he has 2-3 requests per month that are still outstanding, including mine. There have even been a couple RTSs received. I'd be happy with an RTS at this point because it has 1966 and 1967 Twins team cards included.
The 1966 team card has seven signatures on it, including Rich Rollins, who passed away recently.
The 1967 card has eight signatures on it. None are deceased, but it's got some great players like Camilo Pascual and Jim Perry.
I'll be relieved to get these cards back from Mr. Worthington whether or not they are signed. He's had a few requests that have taken a couple months to be returned, but I don't see a three month return timeframe. I'm worried my request may have gotten lost. I might start on another 1966 card but will not be able to replace Rollins.
