More Returns - Some 1956 Topps, Including Whitey Ford

I had four returns waiting for me today, three of which included signed 1956 Topps.

First, Whitey Ford signed his 1956 Topps.

Ed Roebuck also signed his 1956 Topps.

Wally Moon signed both his 1954 and 1956 Topps.

Finally, Dick Schofield Sr. signed his 1959, 1963 and 1964 Topps.

Stu Miller and Hal Smith Returns

I received a couple 1956 Topps in my last two returns.  That makes 91 signed 1956 Topps in my collection.

Stu Miller signed his 1953 Topps in addition to his 1956 Topps.

And Hal R. Smith signed his 1959 and 1960 Topps as well as his 1956 Topps.

I have about 20 outstanding requests that will hopefully come back in the next week or two.  I'm far short of my goal of sending out 100 requests for the year.  I think I'm only at about half that number now.  I don't have a lot of cards to send out either, so I'm not sure I'll meet my goal.

Joe Morgan Return

No, not that Joe Morgan.  The Joe Morgan that went on to manage the Red Sox from 1988 - 1991.

Mr. Morgan signed his player cards from 1960 and 1961, as well as his manager card from 1989.

Some Old and Some New

I'm catching up on returns from the last couple of days.

I received a couple 2013 Allen & Ginters back.  One signed by Wade Boggs and one signed by Bobby Doerr.

I also received a 1959 and 1960 Topps signed by Ed Fitgerald.  I had enclosed a 1950 Bowman as well which he didn't sign.  I think it was because the Bowman is so small and he didn't see it in the return envelope with the two other, larger cards.  After signing the two larger cards, he folded my letter around them, but the Bowman wasn't folded in there with them, which makes me think he never even saw it.  Maybe I'll re-send it in a while.

Finally, I received a 1964 and 1966 Topps signed by Ernie Broglio.

Another Bobblehead (Or Two?)

While at the Har Mar card show yesterday, I picked up another stadium giveaway bobblehead that I need for my collection.

It is the Mauer/Morneau double bobblehead that was given out in July of this year.

I think I need the Hrbek/Gant bobblehead that was given out in 2011.  I think there was another Hrbek bobblehead given out in 2009.  I'm having trouble finding a good checklist.  Does anyone know of one?

I have at least eight more requests going out in the mail tomorrow.  Maybe I'll write a few more tonight, but I'm running out of cards to send out again!

Tony Oliva Signing

Today I headed over to Har Mar Mall in Roseville for a card show and Tony Oliva signing.  I had decided to have Mr. Oliva sign his SGA bobblehead from 2000, as well as a 1968 Sports Illustrated poster that I've had for quite a while.

Mr. Oliva was very nice and friendly (and called me "young man".  Gotta like that).  There weren't too many people in line but he was scheduled to sign for three hours, so hopefully more people showed up later.

Groth and Naragon

Two more returns today.

Johnny Groth signed his 1953 and 1956 Topps for me.

Hal Naragon, a former Twin, signed his 1956 Topps and wrote me a brief noting thanking me for writing,  How nice!

I think now have 90 signed cards from the 1956 set.

A Few More Returns - Pierce, Lee and Smith

Three more returns today, including many of the 50 cent 1960 and 1963 Topps cards I bought at the last TCSCC card show.

Billy Pierce signed his 1960 and 1963 Topps.

Hal W. Smith also signed his 1960 and 1963 Topps.

Don Lee signed his 1960, 1963 and 1965 Topps.

There is another card show this weekend, including a Tony Oliva autograph signing.  I'll be taking a bobblehead for Mr. Oliva to sign.

The Returns Are Arriving

Last week I started sending out a few requests with cards I bought at the last card show I attended.  The only problem with sending out batches of requests is that they also come back in batches.  I'd rather they trickle in so I have some returns every day.

Today I received four returns:

Bobby Morgan signed his 1950 Bowman.

Hobie Landrith signed his 1956 and 1961 Topps.

Bill Virdon signed his 1956 and 1963 Topps.

Finally, Art Schult signed his 1953 and 1958 Topps.

I sent out another eight requests today, and will probably send two or three tomorrow.

Wanted: 2007 Topps Heritage #222 - Pat Neshek

It worked so well with my bobbleheads, so I decided to post some of my wantlist on my blog.

I've been looking for a 2007 Topps Heritage #222 (Pat Neshek) for a long time. I haven't been able to find it on eBay or at card shows.

If you have one, let me know what you want for it (paypal).

I really like the set but I know I won't get a few of the Twins on it, like Santana and Hunter, but Neshek is such a good signer that it will be an easy one to add to my collection if I can only find the card!

SGA Bobblehead Collection Complete!

A couple posts ago I listed all the stadium giveaway bobbleheads I still needed for my collection.  Steve, a reader of my blog here in the Twin Cities, emailed and let me know he had all of them and was willing to sell them.

We quickly agreed on a price and met today at the Twin Cities Sports Collectors Club show in Bloomington.  He was unable to find his extra Guzman bobblehead, but I found one at the show.

Steve sold me six, including Kaat, Mauer, Morneau, Gladden, Satana and Willigham.

I'm running out of room to put all these bobbleheads, but I put the new ones on top of one of my display cases.

And I gave Willingham his own shelf (replacing Denard Span).

Hopefully I can get a bunch of these signed at TwinsFest next year.  I'd sure like to see Morneau there again.  I'm pretty sure Gladden will be there.  Kaat would be a long shot and I doubt we'll ever see Guzman there.  Maybe some day Santana will come back.

I also picked up about 40 cards to send out.  Mostly from 1956, but a bunch from 1960 as well that I found in a $1 pile.
