My Birthday Presents

A couple of weeks ago I ordered my birthday presents.  Since my wife and kids really have no idea what to get me for gifts, I order things and they wrap them up and give them to me.

This year I took advantage of a Steiner Sports sale.  I bought four signed 8x10 pictures.

First, I got a nice signed picture of Ralph Kiner sliding.

Next, I got a picture of a Jim Bunning perfect game.

I also got a cool picture of Duke Snider climbing the wall to make a catch.

Lastly, I got a dual-signed picture of Bobby Thomson and Ralph Branca of Thomson's pennant-winning home run (with Branca being the losing pitcher).  Notice Jackie Robinson watching the action.  Trivia question: Who was on deck, ready to bat after Thomson?

Duke Snider - Steiner

I have been buying a few things from Steiner recently. They've had some coupon codes that have turned out to be pretty good deals.

Today I received two of my orders. I ordered two 2009 All-Star Game baseballs. I'll probably have Joe Nathan sign one of them. I'm not sure what I'll do with the other.

I also received a signed, 16x20 picture of Duke Snider celebrating after winning game one of the 1952 World Series. This was on sale for only $35, and I got a $25 gift certificate with my purchase.

I have a couple more orders on the way. I'll post about those when I receive them.

Evan Longoria

Today I received the games used bats I ordered, as well as the Evan Longoria balls from Steiner. I'll take pictures of the bats tomorrow and post them before I get the Punto and Harris bats signed.

I ordered a case of Ultra Pro UV protected baseball holders. I just realized that the last case I ordered wasn't UV protected. I think I'll replace all the balls I currently have out on display with the new cases, and leave the ones I have stored away in the standard holders.

The boys and I are going to make the rounds tomorrow. We'll hit The Ball Park in Apple Valley, where I one a lot of 18 1964 Topps on eBay. Then we'll hit Cedar Cliff Collectibles. The boys are looking for some more Simpsons figures to add to their collection. I don't have anything specific in mind but you never know what you'll find there.
