A Few 1952 Topps

I recently purchased three 1952 Topps from Mickey's.  I was a little surprised at how "cheap" they were.  Perhaps because they were all excellent ttm signers and have only recently passed away.  But especially considering they're PSA/DNA authenticated, I was happy to grab them.

The three I bought include Lou Brissie, Robin Roberts and Mickey Vernon,

I also bought a few unsigned 1952 Topps that I'll send out over the next couple of weeks.

Dick Moloney - 1971 Topps

Just 10 days after receiving this card from Chuck Brinkman, I've received it back from Dick Moloney.

I really like getting multi-signed cards completed, and even though this one is just two players, I think it looks pretty nice.

Nolan Ryan - 1978 Topps

I sent this card to the Nolan Ryan Foundation back in September.  He signs a few times a year so you just have to send it in and be patient.

I'm happy to add another Hall of Famer to my 1978 Topps set.

I sent out 11 requests today.  Mostly 1978 Topps, along with cards from the 1976 and 1979 sets I bought to send along with these requests.

Hal Breeden Return

Another return today.  It's been a while since I've gotten a few in the same week.

Hal Breeden signed his 1972 and 1973 Topps for me.

 He also included a signed Baseball Magazine card from 2010 picturing him with the Hanshin Tigers.

#TBT - Hemus and Silvera

I was really happy today to see a few vintage cards come back.  Both of these were sent out back in August, so I was getting nervous that I may not see them again.

Solly Hemus signed his 1953 Topps for me,

Charlie Silvera signed card makes my 39th from that set.

Brinkman and Luebber

Two returns today, adding a couple more cards to my 1972 Topps collection.

Steve Luebber, a former Twin, signed his 1972 Topps.

And Chuck Brinkman signed his 1971, 1972 and 1973 Topps.

I'm having a tough time getting fired up for TwinsFest.  Tickets go on sale tomorrow, but I haven't decided which days, if any, I'll attend.  I've looked at the lineup so far, and it doesn't seem like enough to make me want to stand out in the freezing cold.  I suppose I could just relax a little this year, and show up after it opens, and leisurely wander around to get whatever is convenient.  I haven't decided yet.

Del Unser Return

I sent out a handful of requests about a week ago and got my first one back today.

Del Unser signed his 1972, 1976 and 1978 Topps.

 

This marks the start of some 1970's cards I'll be getting back as I'm working on my 1972 and 1978 sets.  There will be some 71's, 73's and an occasional 79 in the returns as well. 

Trevor Plouffe Red Wings Bobblehead

I'm slowly starting to get some things ready for TwinsFest.

Over the weekend I bought some Rawlings Official Major League Baseballs (romlbs) from Target, who had them on sale for $12.  Unfortunately, that's a good price these days.

Today I also received a Trevor Plouffe Red Wings bobblehead that I bought on Ebay.  It has a nice smooth helmet that will be a nice place to have it signed.

I think I'm set for cards and pictures.  I also have a few mini helmets and even a couple of bats.

Chuck Schilling

I can't remember the last time I had this big of a gap between posts.

But, I finally got a return today.  Chuck Schilling signed his 1962, 1964 and 1966 Topps for me.

I sent out seven requests today, so hopefully I'll have some more returns to post about soon.

I'm also starting to think about TwinsFest, but I'm not as fired up this year as I have been in the past. I don't think I'll buy too much more to get signed, but try to stick with what I have, which is mostly cards.

Rickey Clark and Ken McBride

Two returns in one day!  It's sad that I'm happy about that.

I added a couple more cards to my 1963 and 1972 Topps sets that I'm working on,

Dwain Anderson - 1972 Topps

I was out of town for the weekend, but came home to a return.

Dwain Anderson signed his 1972 Topps already signed by Chris Floethe.

Harvey Kuenn - 1965 Topps

I recently purchased a 1965 Topps signed by Harvey Kuenn from a fellow SCN member.

I've sent out just a couple ttm requests, but none have come back.  I wrote a couple more today which I'll send out tomorrow.

Killebrew Starting Lineup Figure

I recently bought this figure on Ebay.  I don't have anything like this, but I thought this was kind of cool.  The package is a little beat up, but the signature is in good shape.

Some Returns After A Dry Spell

Finally, some returns.

Jimmy Rosario signed his 1972 Topps.

Brock Davis signed his 19723 and 1973 Topps.

And Joe McClain signed his 1962 and 1963 Topps.  I already purchased Mr. McClain's signed 1963 Topps, but added a personal return to my collection.

I sent out just two returns so far this week.  I'm way behind in sending out and have no excuse other than I just haven't felt like writing letters.

Wilson A1280

The TTM returns have really slowed down.  I hope to send out at least a few more over the weekend.

I recently bought a non-autographed item (which is rare for me), and received it this week.

It's a Wilson baseball with a facsimile Harmon Killebrew autograph.  I guess there are several other versions with other players' facsimile autographs.  It might be fun to try to get them all.

Bryant, Floethe and Richard

A nice day for returns today, as Thursdays usually are.  At least when I have requests outstanding.

Ron Bryant signed both his 1972 Topps as well as his 1973 Topps.

Chris Floethe signed his 1972 Topps.  Now it's off to Mr. Anderson to complete.

Lee Richard signed his 1972 and 1976 Topps for me.

I bought a few 1972 Topps on Ebay and hope to send them out soon.  My goal for the year was to add 10 more to this set, but that should be no problem as I already have seven as well as two I just purchased from an SCN member but haven't yet received.

Horlen, James and Navarro

Today I received a 1963 Topps signed by Joel Horlen that an SCN contact got signed for me.  I had received this card signed by Mr. Horlen through the mail a few years ago, but it was signed in pretty dry black marker, so this is an upgrade for my collection (and doesn't count towards my goal for the year of adding 50 more to the set).

I also received a few through the mail requests.

Julio Navarro signed his 1960 and 1964 Topps for me.

And Charlie James signed his 1963 and 1964 Topps.  I sent this request back in October of 2014, so I'm happy to see it come back.  I also have this 1963 card signed by Mr. James already.  I purchased one a while ago but prefer to get them TTM.  So why do I buy them?  Good question.

Del Crandall and Pete Ward

I sent Del Crandall a request back in early August and I was getting a little nervous, but today I received the 1952 Topps back signed nicely.  The card is a little rough, but those 52 Topps can be kind of expensive, so I went with a lower grade card.

I also received a return from Pete Ward, who signed his 1963 and 1964 Topps.
