Jim Perry and Jack Hiatt

Two nice returns today.  First, Jim Perry signed his 1972 Topps as well as his 1972 Topps Boyhood Photos cards.  I enclosed $10 with my request.

I also got back four cards from Jack Hiatt, including 1965, 1971, 1972 and 1973 Topps.  I have really slowed down on my 1965 set so it's nice to add another one to my collection.

Duffy, Terwilliger and Bolin

A couple of ttm returns today as well as one paid signing return today.

Frank Duffy signed four cards for me:  1971, 1972, 1973 and 1978 Topps.

Wayne Terwilliger signed his 1954 Topps and also enclosed a signed Fort Worth Cats card.

Finally, I got back a signed 1972 Topps of Bobby Bolin that I sent in to a Chris Potter Sports signing.

My son also got back a couple ttm requests.  Roy Sievers signed a 1958 Topps and included a signed Diamond Signatures card.

Also, Paul Smith signed his 1958 Topps.

Steve Brye and Duffy Dyer

I got back a couple more of my recent requests.

Steve Brye signed a 1972 and 1978 Topps.  Mr. Brye used to be a tough autograph to get but has been signing through the mail lately.  I'm guessing his toughness was due to finding the right address, because he even wrote a short note back to me which was very nice, so he doesn't seem reluctant to respond.

Also, Duffy Dyer signed four cards for me:  1971, 1972, 1973 and 1978 Topps.

Ken Boswell and Mike Paul

I expected a full mailbox today, but I guess I'll have to be happy with two returns.

Ken Boswell signed a couple of 1972 Topps.

Mike Paul signed a 1971, 1972, and 1973 Topps.

I sent out 17 requests a week ago Monday and have only gotten a few back.  I expected a couple of days with 5 or 6 returns.  Maybe tomorrow.

Some Quick Returns and One Long Return

I received three returns today from the group I sent out last Monday.

Dave Kingman and Mike Ferraro each signed their 1972 Topps for a $5 fee.

Billy Grabarkewitz signed three cards for me:  a 1971, 1972 and 1973 Topps.  He's got a long last name, and apparently has tired of writing the whole thing as he signed his last name simply as "G".  I don't blame him.

Finally, John "Zeke" Bella signed his 1959 Topps that I sent to him last July.  This is the second time I sent to him and got this card signed.  I think I got confused by his first name as I sent out to "Zeke" in 2004 and this one to "John" in 2010.

Joe Mauer Signing Via Ironclad

A while ago my sons and I sent in a few items to Ironclad via an SCN contact for a Joe Mauer signing.  We never have luck getting Mauer at TwinsFest or the Autograph Party so we took this opportunity to get a few things signed without having to stand outside in the freezing cold for 6 hours.

I decided to get his autograph on his first Sports Illustrated cover.  I decided to have him sign in silver on his chest protector, but am thinking maybe I should have gone with the open area to his right.  Oh well, it looks okay, it's just not very noticeable.

My older son got a bobblehead signed.  It turned out really nice.  All our items had mlb and Ironclad authentication stickers put on them.

My younger son decided to get Mauer on his Sports Illustrated from 2009.

These weren't super cheap, but my fellow SCN member got enough pieces to get a cheaper price.  Considering we didn't have to wait in line and were assured to get the autographs, I'd take this route any day.  It wasn't cheap enough that I would get cards signed, but it's nice to get these magazines and bobblehead signed.

Sparky Anderson and Jim Hannan

I've received a couple cards the last few days that I haven't posted about yet.

First, I bought a signed 1972 Topps from a fellow member on SCN.  I have several of his autographs already but when I started collecting this set, Mr. Anderson was too ill to sign.  I knew there would be several people on SCN that wold have this card and I had an offer to sell me one within a couple of hours of posted my need.

I also (finally) received back a 1965 Topps signed by Jim Hannan.  Mr. Hannan is a tough signer through the mail so when I saw the Major League Alumni Assocation (MLAM) advertisement of a signing, I sent in my card right away.  The signing was in February, and I just card my card back today.  That's typical of my experience.  I had a REALLY hard time getting a Jim Kaat bobblehead back from them, which I posted about HERE.

But, I've always, eventually, gotten my items back signed, so I continue to use them.  I have just learned I need to be patient.

Mickey's Purchases Via eBay - 1951 Bowman

I also bought a few authenticated 1951 Bowmans from Mickey's on eBay.  I already have a couple of these, but they are ones I bought that aren't authenticated.  These weren't too expensive either.  Most were cheaper than the cost of getting them authenticated.

Mickey's Purchases Via eBay - 1972 Topps

I mentioned I bought 20 signed 1972 Topps from Mickey's on eBay.  Here they are:

A couple of these players are deceased and a few are tough signers.  A few are easy to get ttm, but they were so cheap I bought them anyway.  I may still send out to a few of them because I prefer to get them myself.
